| Composite / SS Inner IBC | Varies — often 2" or 3" DIN | Varies — DIN 150 or DIN 250 | Contact us with exact make/model — compatibility varies significantly |
Not sure? Send us the UN marking plate information from your IBC (visible on the cage, usually a metal stamped or printed label) and we'll confirm the right parts before you order.
Installation Guides for Common Accessories
Most IBC accessories can be installed without special tools or training. Here are step-by-step guides for the three most common installations.
Replacing an IBC Butterfly Valve
- 01Ensure the tote is empty and depressurized before beginning.
- 02Place a drain pan under the outlet to catch residual liquid.
- 03Unscrew the old valve counterclockwise using a valve wrench or pipe wrench with jaw protectors.
- 04Clean the outlet threads on the bottle with a damp cloth and inspect for thread damage.
- 05Apply food-grade PTFE tape to the new valve's male thread — 3 wraps clockwise.
- 06Thread the new valve clockwise by hand until snug, then tighten 1/4 turn with a wrench.
- 07Test with water before returning to service — open and close several times to confirm smooth operation.
Installing a Heating Blanket
- 01Ensure the IBC tote is in its permanent location before installing the blanket — do not move a tote with a connected heating blanket.
- 02Wrap the heating element around the bottle section of the tote, above the cage frame bottom rail.
- 03Secure the blanket using the built-in straps or Velcro attachment — the element should contact the bottle surface evenly.
- 04Connect the temperature probe to the bottle surface at the mid-point, securing with the probe clip.
- 05Set the thermostat to your target temperature. For most viscous materials, 100–120°F is a typical operating setpoint.
- 06Plug into a grounded outlet — do not use extension cords or ungrounded outlets.
- 07Allow 4–8 hours initial heat-up time for a full, cold tote. Monitor temperature during first heat-up.
Installing a Dip Tube Assembly
- 01Measure the interior depth of the bottle from the 6" fill port opening to the bottle base — typically 38–46" for a 275-gallon unit.
- 02Cut the dip tube to length (bottle depth minus 2" for clearance at the bottom).
- 03Attach the male adapter fitting to the top of the tube and thread it into the fill cap assembly.
- 04Install the dip tube + cap assembly onto the tote fill port, tightening to full engagement.
- 05Connect your pump inlet hose to the outlet fitting at the top of the dip tube assembly.
- 06Test for leaks at the cap-to-bottle interface with water before using with your actual product.

Will It Fit My Tote?
The overwhelming majority of IBC totes manufactured worldwide share a standardized valve and cap interface: a 2-inch BSP bottom outlet and a 6-inch NW150 (DIN 150) fill cap. Our valves, caps, and gaskets are compatible with this standard, which covers the vast majority of units from Schutz, Greif, Mauser, and most Asian manufacturers.
Exceptions exist for older units, composite/stainless IBCs, and some specialty models. If you're unsure, send us the brand and model number (usually on the UN rating plate) and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.
For thread differences between BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT (National Pipe Thread), we stock direct adapters to bridge the two systems in both brass and polypropylene.
Bulk Parts & Standing Orders
Fleet operators and maintenance teams with predictable parts consumption can benefit significantly from bulk and standing order pricing. We work with dozens of agricultural operations, chemical distributors, and food manufacturers to keep their IBC fleets running without hunt-and-peck ordering.

Accessories FAQ
How do I know which valve fits my IBC tote?+
The vast majority of IBC totes manufactured for the US market use a 2-inch BSP (British Standard Pipe) bottom outlet thread. Our 2" butterfly and ball valves are compatible with this standard, covering Schutz, Greif, Mauser, and most Asian-manufactured IBCs. If you have an unusual or specialty IBC, send us the UN rating plate information (usually on a metal tag on the cage) and we'll confirm compatibility.
What is the difference between BSP and NPT threads?+
BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT (National Pipe Thread) are two different thread standards that are NOT interchangeable — forcing them together will cross-thread and destroy both fittings. BSP has parallel threads (BSPP) or tapered threads (BSPT); NPT has tapered threads. Most IBC totes use 2" BSP. Most US plumbing and pumps use NPT. We stock 2" BSP-to-NPT adapters to bridge the two systems — specify which you need.
Do you sell single parts or only full kits?+
Both. We sell individual parts (single valve, single cap, single gasket) as well as kits (full gasket set, DIY repair kit, cam-lock 4-piece set). For fleet operators who replace specific parts frequently, we can set up standing orders for just that part at volume pricing.
Can I use an EPDM gasket for chemical storage?+
EPDM is compatible with water, many agricultural chemicals, food products, dilute acids, and mild alkalis. It is NOT compatible with concentrated petroleum products, aromatic solvents, or chlorinated compounds. For aggressive chemicals, use PTFE gaskets. For food and pharma, use food-grade silicone. If you're unsure, send us the product SDS and we'll recommend the right gasket compound.
How do heating blankets connect? Do I need special wiring?+
Our standard heating blankets plug into a standard 120V or 240V grounded outlet — no special wiring required for residential or light commercial installations. Industrial 240V models may require a dedicated circuit depending on your electrical panel. The blanket includes a built-in thermostat and temperature probe. Do not use ungrounded or extension cord power sources — use a properly rated grounded outlet only.
Are IBC liner bags single-use? Can they be washed and reused?+
Standard polyethylene IBC liner bags are designed for single use — they're not washable in any practical sense and are not designed to be reused. The value is in eliminating the cleaning cost between product changes: one liner per fill cycle. Multi-layer barrier liners for pharmaceutical and sensitive food applications are also single-use. For reusable options, consider our PTFE-lined fittings or stainless dip tubes, which can be cleaned and reused indefinitely.
What is the lead time for accessories and parts?+
Most common accessories (valves, caps, gaskets, adapters, heating blankets) ship same day or next business day from our Kansas City stock. Larger items (spill pallets, double containment systems) ship within 2–3 business days. Specialty or custom-order items (aseptic valves, stainless composite fittings) may require 5–10 business days. Call us for urgent requirements.
Do you offer volume pricing on accessories?+
Yes. For fleet operators ordering multiple valves, gasket sets, or heating blankets at once, volume discounts apply starting at 10 units of the same item. For ongoing maintenance programs — where you replace the same parts regularly — we offer standing order pricing with automatic replenishment options. Contact us to set up a fleet maintenance account.
Can't Find the Part You Need?
If it goes on an IBC tote, we can probably source it. Send us the details and we'll track it down or identify a compatible alternative.
